Asociación de Vecinos de Camposol (AVC)
Temporary suspension of activities
The announcement in the press by the Mayor of Mazarron, Senor Campillo, of the new council care office at the social centre on sector B, should be a welcome initiative, however an unfortunate by-product is that the use of the small council office and its facilities, granted by the town hall to AVC, appears to have been rescinded by this initiative, as opening hours and days are the same as those allocated to AVC. As we now have nowhere to call home, we will unfortunately need to suspend our activities until we find another location to work from. We have not received any official communication from the Town Hall or any offer for alternative accommodation. We will be vacating the office on Monday 24th March and storing our official documentation in an alternative, secure location to ensure we comply with our data protection obligations.
In practical terms, what does this mean:
- Assistance given to the Town Hall with the distribution of the notification letters regarding the change of planning regime for Camposol, is now suspended. (The documentation for distribution to the announced sectors remains at the social centre. Neighbours may wish to collect them from the member of council staff who will be at the office from 9am till 2pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The only caveat is that the mayor's announcement says that appointments will be necessary, to receive services, although no information is given, how to make an appointment).
- Assistance given to the Town Hall with the preparations for the Europe Day fiesta on 9th May, to be held on Camposol, has been ongoing and we will explore if and how we can continue this support for the benefit of Camposol neighbours.
- We proposed to the Town Hall last year, the creation of a register of vulnerable persons on Camposol. An official project has been due to be created by the Town Hall and social services, with AVC, FAST and other local charities, to enable assistance to vulnerable people, to be provided. We do not know the effect of this announcement on the project.
- Creation of a "punto violeta" at the social centre as a point of reference for victims of gender violence, in support of the national campaign in Spain, is suspended.
- The assistance we have been providing to financially vulnerable neighbours in accessing additional income, discounts on electricity and water bills, as well as accessing the Caritas foodbanks, is also unfortunately suspended
- The video's and associated report we have prepared regarding the green waste situation will still be submitted to the town hall.
- We have proposed to collate all the relevant information regarding the parlous state of the public roads, not just Avenida de Los Covachos, into one report for submission to the town hall. This activity will be suspended until we find a location to work from.
We are a new and small association that wants to work for the benefit of the neighbourhood on single and joint projects. The allocation of use of the social centre office and its facilities has been crucial to us being able to start and work on some of the activities we proposed and which are available to see on our website at www.avc.org.es We publish information in five languages, Spanish, English, French Dutch and German to try and accommodate the main languages spoken on Camposol. It is hugely disappointing to us that we have in effect been evicted from our workplace, however we are determined not to let this setback prevent us from moving forward for the benefit of the neighbourhood. We will publish more news when we have it on our website and also on our Facebook page. If you have any questions about this information item, you can email us at admin@avc.org.es or use the contact us page on the website www.avc.org.es

Following the damage to the area at the bottom of C Sector during the recent floods, and concerns expressed by neighbours about the potential further damage that may be caused by the huge lorries that use the road to access the pig farm, AVC contacted the town hall to request enforcement action. In response, the town hall has requested evidence of any recent and ongoing activities. AVC will collate any evidence in the form of times and dates, photographs, truck license plates, company name and any other useful information and issue a complaint for enforcement action to be taken. If you have seen this type of activity, and have the above information please forward it to admin@avc.org.es and we will take the necessary action.

The "Asociación de Vecinos de Camposol" (AVC) is a new association that seeks to improve the neighbourhood of the urbanisation. We work on community initiatives that promote coexistence and a sense of belonging in the urbanisation:
- Advice and support in the management of public procedures and services.
- Activities and workshops to improve the quality of life of residents.
- Community projects to improve the urbanisation and its surroundings.
- Creation and maintenance of free sports facilities.
As a new association, we wish to present the vision and share our proposals with our members and seek their opinions as to what type of activities we should undertake to achieve our objectives.
The best way to do this is to invite members to a meeting at the Social Centre on Sector B at Camposol at 1pm on Friday 29th November. We will give an overview of the association, introduce you to the committee and explain how we plan to deliver on a set of proposals. Importantly, we need to learn what the members see as priorities for the upcoming year.
If you are already a member, you will receive a personal invitation to the meeting. If you would like to know about our plans and contribute to our work, please visit www.avc.org.es where you will find out about us and have the opportunity to complete the membership form and be able to join us on Friday 29th November. If you have any questions, please email us onadmin@avc.org.es or use the contact form on the website. We hope you can join us.

For the past two weeks the "Asociación de Vecinos de Camposol" has been anticipating being able to open our office at the Social Centre on Sector B. Sadly, it has not been possible as the functionary from the Town Hall who was tasked with handing over the keys, has failed to attend five separate appointments, so we are still awaiting the opportunity to set up the office and be able to provide the neighbourhood support we are offering. For more information please visit www.avc.org.es where you will be able to view the website in Spanish, English, French, Dutch and German, thanks to volunteers offering to translate the site into these languages.
Camposol 5th November 2024
The Neighbourhood Association of Camposol (AVC) met this morning with the councillor of Camposol to inform the Town Hall of the dangerous situation of the access road to Sector C due to the disappearance of asphalted areas and the earth base supporting others.
We have asked that the danger be signposted urgently and that the area be upgraded. The Councillor undertook to address the issue with the relevant department of the Town Hall, for the benefit of the neighbourhood. The councillor confirmed that she has passed it on to Civil Protection and Y to the services department.
